I go to the Black Cultural Archives to look into the Black Parents Movement of the 1980s. I have been to the space a handful of times briefly to see exhibitions. Never upstairs to the Research room.
The files I am presented with are so full I barely get through the first two in my allotted time. So a second visit is on the cards.
It has shelves of books that would be enough to spend an afternoon in amongst, without the need for any files....
Critically, I stop off in the shop and pick up a copy of War to Windrush by Stephen Bourne.
It introduces me to Lilian Bader.
